Our first week in Oz

Our first week has been a busy but hectic one. Wes has been lucky enough to work with Lew for a few days. A chance to earn some extra cash and see whether or not it is something he would be interested in. As they finished work so early, we took the kids to Toys R Us to catch up on missed presents. It was similar to the UK, but everything was stacked up high and so close together, although George was still able to find the Thomas the Tank Engine aisle in record time. The kids all did well, George got his new bike from Uncle Lew and Uncle Kate (as he calls her) which you can see in the pics.

Wednesday, we went to the Licensing Office to renew our drivers licenses. As long as you do it within 3 months, there's no need to take a test. Just an eye test and smile for you photo. We drove down to Fremantle Harbour for lunch, it was really windy with the skies about to open, we caught our first glimpse of the ocean. You could see Fremantle Port where our container should unload soon.

Thursday was busy. I took Emily to school and she rushed to tell her teacher that I was there. He was very nice and came over to say hello, made me feel welcome. George was helping Emily empty the bricks whilst the rest of the class settled in. It was all very relaxed. Her school is lovely, all open, no fences, play areas, playing fields, chickens! After a little bit of shopping, coffee and baby chinos for Luke and George, we took Luke to his swimming lessons. He's doing really well, very confident in the water. Home for lunch, then over the park, the kids took scooters, although I ended up carrying Georges half way there. Wes and Lew went footie training in the evening to Port Kennedy, about 30 minutes drive, think Wes felt the after effects the next day, but said he would be up for going again and playing at the weekend if possible.

We had our first barbie on Friday and I tasted prawns!!! They were actually quite nice, think I surprised everyone including myself! A couple of Lew and Kate's friends came over, they have been here just over a year and are living their new life. Luckily the kids slept in till 8am on Saturday which was nice, but the weather was awful. Thunder and lightning, so bad that the lightning struck the house and blew up the TV. Not good! Everyone one was ok, it just made a bit if a bang. We took the kids swimming to another pool and for a Saturday afternoon, it was not at all busy. The pool was sectioned off for swimming lessons but still had plenty of space for slides, fountains, bubbles etc, not quite the same as what we are used to. Evening dinner was at a restaurant called Sizzlers, pretty much all you can eat for as little as possible, but the food was lovely. We were well stuffed!

Will put some more pics on soon, have got a camera full to sort through.

Hope you had a nice birthday Nan and congratulations Michael and Judith on the birth of those gorgeous twins xxxxxxxx
